Art Exhibition: January, Saturday 14th 2017

Opening Two Exhibits:
La Antigua Galería de Arte is honored to present two alternative exhibits to open the new year´s show season.
Painter
On one hand Guatemalan artist Carlos Chavez will be showing his latest works in a collection he has entitled “Migraciones”. Chavez´s work has always evolved around our human tribulations, especially the plight of the indigenous in Guatemala and their need to migrate as recent past history has testified. This collection invites us to migrate to a less imperfect world, be it physical or metaphorical, real or unreal, as a mere way of reinventing ourselves.
Sculpturist
On the other hand, Scott Stoll, a North American sculptor and resident in the country brings us his latest wooden sculptures in honor of the strong women he has met and admired during his lifetime. This exhibit is entitled “Mujeres Fuertes”. Stoll is attracted to certain forms in nature, he selects the finest woods in the region such as mahogany and conacaste to painstakingly carve his pieces. His work is focused on balance and beauty; his final aim is to awaken our senses to these shapes and forms and engage the viewer in an emotionally sensuous experience.
